Movin' On is Penn State's student-run multi-artist music festival to celebrate the end of the academic year. In conjunction with Mountain Productions and Clearwing Productions, the stage was built over 3 days and hosted 5 artists throughout the festival day. This production was an opportunity to take a leadership role in the build, performance, and strike of a festival stage.
As a member of the Production Team, we were the contact point between the staging and production companies, working to engage the 60-person volunteer labor to safely and effectively build and strike the stage and equipment. Also, the Production Team coordinated and executed artist change-overs during the festival day to accurately prepare for the next performance, and keep the festival on schedule.
This production helped me strengthen my festival-style load in skills, as well as helped me refine my communication and leadership skills. Communicating and coordinating with inexperienced volunteers on how to empower them to complete tasks safely, while also coordinating with the production companies was a perfect challenge, and I'm grateful for that experience and excited to apply it in the future.
